Washing Machine Not Spinning — Causes and Solutions
The wash cycle finishes but your clothes are still soaking wet — sound familiar? About one in five of our service calls in Baku is for this exact problem. Sometimes the fix is surprisingly simple, other times it requires professional repair.
Overloaded drum
The most common cause — stuffing more laundry than the machine can handle. A 6 kg machine cannot properly spin 8-9 kg of clothes. Large items like blankets bunch up on one side, causing imbalance.
Fix: Remove half the load, redistribute evenly, restart the cycle.
Drive belt worn or broken
Most washing machines use a belt to connect the motor to the drum. Over time it stretches or snaps. If the drum spins freely by hand with no resistance, the belt has likely come off.
Carbon brushes worn out
Machines with brushed motors (older Samsung, LG, Beko models) have carbon brushes that wear down after 5-7 years. The motor loses power and can't spin the drum at full speed.
Worn bearings
Loud rumbling or grinding during spin is a clear sign of bearing failure. This is one of the most serious repairs, requiring complete disassembly.
Control board failure
Power surges are the main cause of board failures. Using a voltage stabilizer significantly extends the life of your machine's electronics.
Shock absorbers and door lock
Worn shock absorbers cause excessive vibration — the imbalance sensor stops the spin to protect the machine. A faulty door lock prevents any program from starting.
